Staff News 2009

 Alan Desmond, AuD continues to represent the American Academy of Audiology at the  
 American Medical Association, and has traveled this year to Phoenix and Chicago for 
 meetings. Last year, he represented the profession of Audiology on a multi-specialty panel and 
 co-wrote the Clinical Practice Guideline for BPPV. He recently co-taught a 3 day course on 
 management of vestibular disorders in Chicago, with Dr. Tim Hain, a neurologist at 
 Northwestern University. His most recent publication, the “Dizziness Reference Guide” was 
 published by Micromedical Technologies and released in April. Dr. Desmond just agreed with 
 Thieme Medical Publishers to write a second edition of his text book Vestibular Function: 
 Evaluation and Treatment.

 Paul Kuster, AuD has attended courses this year in Las Vegas, Charlotte and Minneapolis to 
 stay current with the rapid advances in hearing aid technology and fitting techniques.

 Sharon Jividen, M.S. attended a 3 day course in Playa del Carmen, Mexico to learn the latest 
 techniques in hearing aid fitting and hearing aid technology.

 Holly Meadows, BC-HIS attended a 2 day course in Orlando on Receiver in the Canal (RIC) 
 hearing aid technology, and has taken several classes on current successful hearing aid fitting 
 techniques.

 Tara Minnix, BC-HIS continues her doctoral education in Audiology at Lamar University. 
 She will return to complete her 4th year residency in the spring of 2010.
